After wearing the same summery make up look for a while now, I decided to scroll through the SS 2015 beauty trends for inspiration and to see whether I could incorporate my favourite S/S looks into my make up routine. Whilst I'm still mainly sticking to warm golds, corals and brights for summer, I've really been enjoying wearing a few of these looks too:
Smudgy Purple Eyes
Seen on the catwalks of Vera Wang and Matthew Williamson, purple eyeshadow was blended all over the lids and often smudged under the lower lash line. The shades ranged from lilac and lavender to smokey grape, this is one of my favourite S/S trends this year.
For a subtle version of this look, Natural Collection eyeshadow in Lilac Shimmer (swatched here) gives a shimmery hint of purple when washed over the lids. MAC Quarry is a muted plum brown that works so well smudged under the lower lashes or blended into the crease for definition (see me wearing it here). Finally, Nars Violetta is the perfect, buttery textured eyeshadow duo for this look as it contains lilac shimmer and smokey lavender tones. See it swatched here.
Matte Red Lips
The make up artists at Burberry and Topshop Unique created beautiful diffused red lips for S/S 2015. I love the technique of patting or dabbing a small amount of lipstick onto your lips to leave a long lasting matte stain. This works well paired with a fresh summer base and dewy skin.
For a fuss free version of this look, Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella creates the perfect red stain when applied lightly to the lips. Mac RiRi Woo (similar here) or Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Stiletto are also great for achieving this look. Just a small amount applied to the lips and blotted slightly gives a blood-red, matte stain to the lips.
High Shine
Complexions were left dewy at Donna Karen and Marc Jacobs and highlighter was applied liberally to the skin giving a radiant, illuminating glow.
Brushed over the tops of your cheekbones, on the brow bone and on the cupids bow, a golden champagne highlighter like Mac Soft and Gentle gives an effortless, luminous glow to the skin (worn here). For a cream based highlighter, Topshop Glow highlighters are beautifully iridescent and give an almost ethereal glow to the skin.
